The holiday season is here, and what better way to spread joy than with handmade gifts? These simple DIY clay ornaments are the perfect partner when gifting a bottle of essential oils, for adding as an embellishment of a wrapped gift, and for sharing with friends and family. It’s also a great way to involve your kids in helping to create something special for others this Christmas season.
DIY Essential Oil Clay Ornaments Recipe:
What You'll Need:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 3/4 cup water
- Cookie cutters (holiday shapes are the best!)
- A straw (for making holes)
- Ribbon or twine
- Your favorite Young Living essential oils (like Christmas Spirit, Peppermint, or Frankincense!)
Instructions:
1. In a small saucepan, combine baking soda, cornstarch, and water. Stir over medium heat until the mixture thickens to a dough-like consistency.
2. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Once cool enough to handle, knead the dough on a cornstarch-dusted surface until smooth.
3. Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thick and use cookie cutters to cut out festive shapes.
4. Use a straw to create a hole at the top for hanging.
5. Let the ornaments dry overnight on wax paper, flipping them occasionally.
6. Once they are dry you can leave your ornaments undecorated (the white pops nicely on a tree), you can paint them, or you can brush with glue and dust with fine glitter
7. Add a few drops of Young Living essential oils to the back of each ornament.
8. Thread with ribbon and hang them on your tree or tie them to gifts for a personal touch!
