Natural Health: Is it All or Nothing?


As someone who cares about their health, you’ve likely heard a lot about the benefits of natural health remedies. But with so many different solutions to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide where to begin. The question many people ask themselves is: do I need to be fully invested in natural health, or is it enough to make a few small changes to reap the benefits?

The truth is, natural health can mean different things to different people. You may find that incorporating essential oils into your daily routine or using natural cleaning products is enough to improve your overall well-being. For others, natural health may mean a complete overhaul of their diet, quitting smoking, increasing physical activity, or even incorporating acupuncture into their routine.

The important thing to remember is that every small step towards natural health is a positive change. You don't need to be an expert in essential oils or completely cut out processed foods to enjoy the benefits of a natural lifestyle. Instead, think of it as a journey where you gradually introduce healthier habits into your daily routine.

Small changes like using natural deodorant or drinking more water can add up to significant improvements in your overall health. Plus, by making small changes consistently over time, you’re more likely to stick with them than if you tried to make a dramatic overhaul all at once.

It's important to remember, however, that there are certain health issues that may require a more drastic lifestyle change. If you’re dealing with a chronic illness or disease, it’s always recommended that you speak to your doctor to determine the best course of action for your specific situation.

Natural health is not an all-or-nothing commitment. It’s a journey where you can make small changes over time to improve your overall well-being. The most important thing is to find what works best for you and stick with it. Your body will thank you!

Flying with Essential Oils

Flying with essential oils can be a great way to ease your nerves and feel more relaxed while traveling. However, there are certain guidelines and regulations to follow when it comes to bringing essential oils on a plane.

First and foremost, it is important to only bring Young Living essential oils on the plane. Other essential oil brands may not meet the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidelines and could be confiscated. Some companies are flammable because of the additives they use so knowing your oils is important!

When bringing essential oils on a plane, it is important to pack them in a clear, quart-sized bag with other liquids and gels that comply with the TSA's 3-1-1 rule. Each container of essential oil must be 3.4 ounces or less, and the total amount of liquids in the bag cannot exceed one quart. You can only have 1 quart sized bag per traveler. 

To prevent spills and leaks, make sure all essential oil bottle caps are tightly closed and place them in a plastic baggie. You may opt to store the plastic baggie in a leak-proof essential oil carrying case for added protection. I also throw a paper towel in the ziplock bag as an extra precaution in case a few drops do leak out. 

When going through security, you will need to remove the plastic baggie with your essential oils and place it in a bin to go through the X-ray machine. If TSA officers need to inspect the liquids, they will do so. Some people have concerns that sending essential oils through an x-ray scanner will change the frequency or potency.  I have never noticed a change in aroma or effectiveness and there is no documented information on it. It is totally safe to send them through the machine with your other items. 

Remember that strong scents could be bothersome to other passengers and while we love the oils and know their benefits, not everyone enjoys them like we do. Be considerate by applying essential oils discreetly and using lower concentrations. If it’s a strong or “stinky” oil, consider applying it to your foot before putting on your shoes. This is also great a great way to use oil if you are nervous about flying and need some additional support for your anxious nerves. It is best to apply your oils before getting on the plane and keeping them in your bag while seated.

Traveling with essential oils can be a great way to make your flying experience more enjoyable and relaxing. Just make sure to follow the guidelines set by the TSA to ensure a seamless and stress-free travel experience.

Stop Thinking of Your Hormones in Terms of “High” or “Low”


As women, we all know the struggle of hormonal imbalances. One day we feel on top of the world and the next we're dragging ourselves out of bed, feeling irritable and low. The highs and lows caused by fluctuating hormone levels can take a toll on our physical, mental, and emotional health. But it's not just about our hormones being too high or too low. 

Have you ever had your doctor tell you that your hormones are fine but you know in your gut something is wrong? You are experiencing weight gain, hair loss, low libido, mood swings or lack of sleep but they tell you that everything is in the "normal range." Being normal in an unhealthy world is not healthy. We have to sometimes look deeper and find out what is causing the changes and shifts. It's a sophisticated puzzle, a balance, but it doesn't have to be complicated! 

When I am working with my patients and hormone clients, I don't start with the problem area, we go back to the beginning, the pituiary gland and hypothalamus where hormones start their regulations. We start supporting these areas, which in turn will also then support the thyroid and ovaries as well as ALL the hormones. We don't look at needing something just for the thyroid or just for the ovaries, we look at the whole system.

So what does this look like? It looks like using a product to support the whole endocrine system using a blend of minerals,  with Ginger, Myrrh, Cassia, Clary Sage, and Canadian Fleabane. Add in ashwaganda to the mix which is known to enhance communication within the endocrine system. The result is a women’s balancing formula that supports a healthy and balanced endocrine system.*

Next we look to add another product to support the whole endocrine system & maximize internal health with a formulation of pregnanolone & DHEA. These two substances are produced naturally by the body but decline with age. Pregnenolone is the key precursor for the body's production of estrogen, DHEA, and progesterone, and it has an impact on mental acuity and memory. DHEA is involved in maintaining the health of the cardiovascular and immune systems. These ingredients combine to help support the endocrine system and maximize internal health.*

Third we would look at adding a bioidentical progesterone serum to support optimal hormone balance. As we age, our progesterone levels drop, while our estrogen (from environmental factors) increases, often leading to an estrogen dominance. Progesterone and estrogen balance is important to overall health and when it is out of balance can lead to heart issues, increased cholesterol, issues regulating blood pressure and so much more.
